Mike is a seasoned brass player who has performed in many varied venues throughout the world during his career. These range from concerts in Bogota Columbia with an audience of 150,000 and Madison Square Gardens, New York with audiences of 20,000 to recording studios in the UK and the Far East - and local bandstand concerts on Sunday afternoon, in the pouring rain, to an audience of one!
An incursion into the Top Ten resulted in live television appearances during the seventies on shows such as Sunday Night at the London Palladium and Pebble Mill at One with the Band of the Black Watch. A traditional "Brass Bandsman", his main instrument is tenor horn and he has performed up to Championship level with many bands, the most notable being CWS (Manchester) Band.
Mike is a graduate of Salford who took conducting as his first study. Since completing his studies at Salford he has conducted in the UK, Dieppe, Paris and Malta.
He is currently a Brass teacher for the City of Stoke on Trent Music and Performing Arts Service, based in and around the Stoke-on-Trent area.
I play with the City Youth Wind Orchestra and I am the principal cornet player of the City Youth Brass Band and the City Youth Brass Quintet, as well as Trentham Brass. I also play the piano.
I enjoy anything to do with music really, and I play the cornet, trumpet, clarinet, flute and piano, but I also dabble in the acoustic guitar and tin whistle! I'm a musician through and through, and live for music. I hope to go and live in Scotland one day and find out about my family tree.
As well as playing cornet I also dabble in ocarina, accordian, castenets and bagpipes. I was recently awarded the accolade of brass musician of the year at st.Josephs college
I have been playing the cornet for 2 years, and am also interested in horse riding as well as brass bands. In 2008/2009 I was church queen at Brown Edge.
I attend fenton sixth form college and spemd most of my time practising in various bands, or explaining to people that the flugel isnt made up and is, in fact, a real instrument. I love any type of music and i love being me :)'
I've been playing the Tenor Horn since High School and enjoy participating in concerts and contests with the band. I enjoy any form of the Performing Arts (preferably Music and Drama) which is why I attend Burslem S.T.A.R.S (School for Theatre And Repertory Skills). In 2008 I won the Raymond Martin trophy for "Best Actor Under 21". I am currently studying exams in French Horn and Singing. My cousins, Beth & Rob, are also in the band.
My interests are music, pretending to do a PhD when in fact I'm working for MI5...but shhh don't tell anyone, and a bit of badminton
I go to Trentham High. I play french horn, tenor horn and piano. I am in the City Youth Brass Band, City Youth Wind Orchestra, Brass Quintet, Trentham Brass Band and Trentham Truenotes. In my spare time I like building models with Knex.
I go by Edd most of the time. I play with Trentham Brass, City Youth Brass band, City Youth Wind Orchestra, North Staffs Symphony Orchestra, and The Keele Philharmonic Orchestra, and also have a group of my own at Stoke 6th Form college. I enjoy playing, composing, conducting, anything musical :)
I am too old to mention and have been playing various brass instruments since school on and off, I am a driving instructor by profession and will offer deals to members of Trentham Brass
I am a chef at Alton Towers and am on an apprenticeship programme. I have been playing in the band for several years on different instruments, but I really enjoying playing the bass next to my sister!
I play hockey for the school UXVI team. I like WWE Wrestling (favourite wrestler - Shawn Michaels) and I am a Warhammer fan!
Im Caz, i play Bass alongside four great guys. Being the only female in the section is hard but is great fun as well! The band is really sociable and fun. The concerts are good and the rehersals are even better!
I graduated in 2004 from Keele University in Music and Educational Studies. I now work in Stoke-on-Trent's City Music and Performing Arts Service as a woodwind peripatetic instrumental teacher. When I'm not at work or playing, I enjoy producing Cubist artwork and spending my husband's money!
After studying Computer Science at Nottingham University I rose through the heady ranks of web development at the Caudwell Group before abandoning that sinking ship to move to a small web development company based in Trentham. I now work as a software developer, but still find time to make the odd brass band website in my spare time. Although I used to play the recorder and my wife, brother and sister are all trained musicians, I'm more likely to be seen behind a camera than a set of brass valves.
